Västra Nyland interviewed Jenni Karjalainen of Grane Art about the Kesähuone art exhibition taking place in Hanko, Finland.

“Last year was something of a trial run, and it turned out well. The exhibition attracted over a hundred visitors, and several works found new homes. So this year it continues. The exhibition is organized through Jenni’s company Grane Art, which specializes in contemporary art and artist collaborations. This year’s exhibition features works by Peetu Liesinen, Kaija Hinkula, Veera Kulju, Jaakko Mattila, Mikko Paakkonen and Kim Somervuori.
– The curation has been carried out in collaboration between Grane Art and Peetu Liesinen from Fiskars, says Jenni Karjalainen, adding that she is especially pleased with how the different works complement each other.”
The article also explains why the exhibition is held specifically in Hanko.
“Although she did not grow up in Hanko, the city at Finland’s southernmost tip has always held a special place in her life. It was there her parents met in Hanko’s nightlife, where she spent her childhood summers, and where her grandmother lived.
– That’s why it feels particularly meaningful to have the opportunity to give something back in the form of a cultural experience featuring leading Finnish artists,” she says.”
