Culture, and visual art in particular, continues to feel the effects of a prolonged economic downturn and cuts in public spending. The market for visual art in Finland is shrinking, while audiences seem to be growing. Where is art heading, and what is the role of the artist in today’s changing art landscape?
Grane Art is organizing a discussion event for visual artists on Wednesday, April 22, starting at 7:00 PM. The discussion will be introduced by artist Anssi Kasitonni, and at the end of the event there will be time for informal collegial mingling.
The aim of the event is to enable open networking and discussion among visual artists in a confidential atmosphere (Chatham House Rule). As the event will be held in a private home, the number of participants is limited, and places will be filled in order of registration. Sparkling drinks and light refreshments will be served.
A warm welcome!
Please register by Friday, April 17, via email at jenni@grane.fi or by contacting Jenni Karjalainen at +358 40 751 5496. The exact address near central Helsinki and arrival instructions will be provided upon registration. PLEASE NOTE THE DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD IN FINNISH.
